Woodhill Sands operates year round with shows across all disciplines and at all levels of riding from training days and grass roots events up to Grand Prix Show Jumping.
As well as holding events organised by Woodhill Sands the venue also hosts a number of events organised and run in collaboration with other riding groups across the Rodney and Waitemata area.
Show Jumping Waitemata aim to provide fun and professional show jumping for all to enjoy. They welcome all riders from Pony Club riders and amateurs, to full professionals. Each year, the team runs a mini circuit series of 5 or 6 shows in Winter/Spring where all horses/ponies and riders are welcome (no ESNZ registration required), at the end of the season there are many wonderful trophies and prizes presented at our AGM for successful local prize winners.
Show Hunter Waitemata is a group of friendly, dedicated volunteers who run winter training days and registered summer shows during the year.
They are passionate about show hunter and enthusiastic about the future growth of the sport.
Dressage Waitemata are a dedicated group who try their utmost to provide members with relaxed local competitions judged by our best local judges. They also offer training days where possible, which are low key days available free to members. The group is an enthusiastic team of volunteers whose focus is on helping their riders to achieve an environment for competitions which is both inviting and relaxing – to give everyone their best chance of achieving their goals.
AESI is a group of local riders and supporters who have formed a not for profit group to run all horse trials at Woodhill Sands Equestrian Centre
The Waitemata Riding Club Incorporated was established in 1987 as a relaxed alternative to registered competitions and is proving just as competitive and fun. We provide a supportive, friendly environment for horse people who perhaps don’t want to register with Equestrian Sports New Zealand but who still want to attend clinics, compete, meet new people and learn more about their sport. Our members have a wide range of interests - from dressage, show hunter, cross-country to showing. Our competitions are famous for being well organised but also relaxed and informal – no plaiting or jackets required!
A number of local Pony Clubs hold rallies early in the season when their home grounds are not available due to wet conditions.
