Veterinary Associates Equine offers a full range of both routine and emergency equine veterinary services to the wider Auckland area. We provide an ambulatory service to both North and South Auckland regions through our Kumeu-based satellite practice and our Karaka-based team.
We also offer referral services for equine vets to send their sick or complex cases to our Vet Associates Equine Hospital in Karaka for intensive care, further advanced diagnostics and procedures, or surgery. Based from the hospital we have two American-boarded surgery specialists and an American-boarded medicine specialist (the only one in private practice in NZ) that have undergone advanced training in their respective disciplines. As a full-service veterinary practice with a team of fourteen veterinarians, we pursue excellence with our work, offering the highest standards of equine veterinary care available.
We have two excellent, experienced equine vets based out of Kumeu offering a full range of equine services including pre-purchase exams, lameness work-ups, dentistry, and breeding work.

Auckland-based Shelley Bridgeman started riding when her (then) 10-year-old daughter, Katie, began competing in Category A show hunter. It wasn’t long before Shelley and Katie were both show jumping and spending many weekends at Woodhill Sands. Now, Katie is taking a break from riding while she studies at university and so Shelley is the sole rider on the team. As well as competing her horses, Shelley sponsors jumping events (both registered and grass roots) and is a supporter of Riding for the Disabled. If you see Shelley at one of our shows, please say hello and thank for her ongoing support. This support has been crucial in helping us to be able to continue to offer our shows during this difficult period when we have a lot of additional logistical challenges when offering shows.
