For some time we have been concerned about the condition of some of the trees at the venue.  While we understand riders love the shade they provide in summer and that the poplars provide a park like atmosphere at the venue, many of the trees were overgrown and had not had preventative trimming maintenance.

While the venue was unable to operate during the COVID-19 lock down, vital funding to support fixed operations costs (power, phone, rates, insurance etc) and winter repairs and maintenance at the venue. 

Just before lockdown we were lucky to get a some essential earthworks completed.  This included cleaning out of the many drains, sandtrap and manure areas.  Angela also managed to fill the yards with lots of fresh bedding. It was so important to undertake this crucial work before the winter sets in.

Over the weekend of February 15th & 16th, Woodhill Sands held the Alltech Auckland Championship Show.  The show, sponsored by Alltech, was a great success with the enthusiasm among the 449 horses, along with their 281 riders, at an all-time high, and the competition was strong in most classes and age groups. 

Recently, Jenette Bell (our Trust Manager) hosted some guests at one of our events who were unfamiliar with equestrian sports and what we do at Woodhill Sands.  They both commented at the end of the day how much they had enjoyed being at our show and seeing things in action.  This often occurs when we are talking to those who may not be familiar with our sport or venue, and we thought, that as not everyone can always come out to an event that it would be great to find a way to show people the full spectrum of the sport and how Woodhill Sands supports our riders.
